Welcome to the Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom⢠Export SDK preview release on Adobe Labs. This public prerelease provides a Software Development Kit that will allow developers to enable communication from the Lightroom 1.3 Export Dialog to third party tools, web sites or devices. Using the SDK and an IDE of your choice will allow you to create Export plug-ins that further streamline the photographic workflow. This SDK, based on the open source Lua language, includes plug-in sample code for a Flickr and FTP plug-in that demonstrate how to extend the Export dialog interface for specific tasks.

For years Iâve been advocating the use of valid, semantic, accessible, well-structured HTML. Itâs a bit of a mouthful to say, but thanks to an acronym being coined on the Microformats IRC channel almost seven months ago, I can now start advocating the use of POSH instead. POSH, in case you havenât heard of it already, is short for âPlain Old Semantic HTMLâ, and is obviously much quicker and easier to say than âvalid, semantic, accessible, well-structured HTMLâ. Unfortunately POSH is also something most people building websites or creating content for the Web have yet to discover. Perhaps a fancy acronym will help speed up adoption.
We have another cool new CSS feature to talk about: animation specified in CSS. There is a lot of ground to cover here, so weâll start with the basics first.
As noted in Adobeâs Leopard FAQ the current version of Lightroom 1.2 is not fully compatible with Leopard, Mac OS X 10.5. The good news is that weâll be releasing an update in mid-November that will address key compatibility issues. In the interim, the following list describes areas where photographers may encounter problems with Lightroom 1.2 on Leopard

Yesterday and today, I have been working on an Adobe Air application that makes use of Dean Edwards Javascript Compressor called âPackerâ. I found myself using Packer more and more often, and it was becoming a bit of a pain loading up the page, copy and pasting my Javascript in, and then creating the compressed file. Most of the time I ended up closing the page by mistake. Anyway, I wanted my own lazy way of doing it, so I set out to create an application that could open and save out files. So with permission from Dean (thanks Dean) to use his Packer script, I give you AIRPackerâ¦

The Deserted Village of Feltville sits in a secluded part of the Watchung Reservation, its original inhabitants gone for more than a century. Its mysterious name may, however, be a bit misleading. The village, which saw its first settlers around 1736 and became Union County property during the 1920s, welcomes approximately 32,000 visitors each year and is home to three families. And while no new residents will be moving in anytime soon, additional visitors may be attracted to the village by the opening of a visitor's center and the restoration of another building â both changes which are projected to take place within the year, officials said.
Today at Adobe MAX Iâll be giving a presentation with Michael Williams on the next version of SWFObject (previously the SWFFix project). As most of you probably know, Iâve been working on a project with Bobby van der Sluis and Michael Williams (From Adobe) that was going to become the de-facto standard for embedding Flash/Flex content. Well we decided that we didnât like the new name all that much, so we are adopting the SWFObject name for the project.
Is there a building in New York that you thinks is really ugly, or has a fatal design flaw? Think that house or parking garage in your neighborhood is an eyesore? Then take a photo, and send it to us! Christopher Gray, who writes the âStreetscapesâ column in the New York Times, is looking for the cityâs worst buildings. Submit your photo of the worst building and then tune in on Tuesday, September 25 when he unveils his top (or should we say bottom) choices for the city's worst buildings.

A number of readers have contacted me via e-mail to ask why Iâve not included any information on Lightroom 1.1âs ability to use embedded GPS data to link up with Google Earth. The reason is actually quite simple - itâs not a new feature. Nevertheless, folk have asked that some reference be made to the feature, so who am I to argue.
A few hours later, Firebug for iPhone was born. Basically, it is a little Python web server which acts as a bridge between your iPhone and the Firebug console running in the browser on your computer. When you call console.log() on the phone it sends your log message to the server, which reflects it back to Firefox (or Safari or whatever), which displays it in your nice big Firebug console. You can also enter JavaScript commands in the command line in Firefox and have them sent to the phone, evaluated, and sent back to Firefox. It all works surprisingly well!
Iâm pleased to announce the release of jQuery 1.1.3. After many months of testing, developing, and more testing, we have a very solid release available for download. It comes with roughly 80+ fixed bugs and a handful of enhancements for good measure. Highlights include:

Textpattern, now in the hands of a small team of community members is not dead. It does, however, appear to be in something of a coma. The most recent release â a mere double-dot release â was 7 months ago. Thereâs an âexperimentalâ branch in SVN, but with no clear aim or goals. There is no roadmap, because the team arenât in a position to commit to dates. Why they canât commit to features without dates is unclear.
During the 19th Century -- and as recently as the 1940s -- a series of massive, fixed seacoast fortifications were constructed in order to defend the approaches to New York Harbor. During the mid-1950s, plans to construct additional fixed defense installations to protect the New York metropolitan area were made. However, unlike the seacoast fortifications which preceded them, these new installations were oriented to defend against potential adversaries which would strike, not from the sea, but from the skies.

We recently returned from our annual rendezvous at SES New York and, like always, learned a lot from our webmasters. The 'Robots.txt Summit' generated some healthy discussions and support for adding a tag to parts of a page that do not relate to the main content, such as navigation, menus repeated across the entire site, boilerplate text, or even advertising. We heard what people were asking for so we did a little homework and are now happy to introduce the 'robots-nocontent' tag.

QUOTE: A few days ago, I was trying to load XBL bindings onto elements that the user doesn't see. By this, I mean the elements were loaded via a DOMParser. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Since I've no desire to spend time trying to make it work in XBL, I reluctantly turned to another Mozilla technology, the eXtensible Tag Framework (XTF).
I may have hinted at this a couple of times before, but now I'm actually saying something useful about it... I have a patch (php-openid.diff, for PHP 5, might also apply to PHP 4) for the openssl extension that makes it easier to build OpenID and TypeKey authentication support into your PHP apps.
